Quick Fire Review of Mood

- The first ep had me really mixed, honestly didn’t know what to expect

- Tackles trauma, social media, fame, and sex work

- Songs were used as inner monologues, adding more depth to the storytelling.

- Universal theme of finding yourself and the struggles you face. Flawed characters, very authentic feel.

- Depicts the dangers of socials and falling into its trap. Toxic relationships

- Loved the intro and how episode names were displayed on screen

Big Age

Bolu Babalola's comedy pilot is about four young Black-British friends who are in the 'big age' era of their lives.

Quick Fire Review of Big Age

- The Black British show I wanna see (can you tell I want a full series?)

- Funny and relatable, it showed Blackness in the UK beautifully, it was carefree and natural. No stereotype feels.

Small Axe

TV Mini-Series based on the real-life experiences of London's West Indian community between 1969 and 1982.

Quick Fire Review of Small Axe

- Fav episode was “Lover’s Rock”

- Most educational for me was Education, I learned about subnormal schools.

- Gives a visual glimpse of Black Britsh history and stories. Things I didn’t learn in school and should have been taught

Recommend watching Uprising or checking out BBC iPlayer Black & British collection which is full of programs exploring Black British narratives.
