What is BIB

Black in Britain, which began as a photo project but has grown to connect audiences to Black history and talent. In a manner this page is an exploration project by Stafi Samaki that focuses on Black talent, history, and more across time in the UK. Since starting, BIB has also covered events and participated in panel discussions.

Instead of approaching research as a historian, she approaches it as a proud hobbyist and amateur. She does this to connect Black audiences to what’s happening as many events that have a focus on Black talent and/or history can be missed or only last a few days.

BLACK GIRL ZINE, the project which started the thought process of Black in Britain.

The inspiration to create this project was personal struggles when growing up, I always felt like I couldn’t relate to anyone. The lack of representation in the media played a big part in feeling like that while growing up. This encouraged me to create something that represented Black girls. Something we can relate to.
