Black in Britain: A Brief Re-Introduction.

New year calls for a brief re-introduction of Black in Britain, or BIB, as so much has happened and changed since first starting the page.

Black in Britain, which began as a photo project has grown to connect audiences to Black history and talent. In a manner this page is an exploration project by Stafi Samaki that focuses on Black talent, history, and more across time in the UK. Instead of approaching research as a historian, she approaches it as a proud hobbyist and amateur. She does this to connect Black audiences to what’s happening as many events that have a focus on Black talent and/or history can be missed or only last a few days. Since starting, BIB has covered events and participated in panel discussions.

Aims:
>
To create opportunities for Black people to share their own stories.
> Amplify work in any medium created, produced, directed or written by a Black person(s).
> To promote the teaching and learning of Black history in the UK.
> Share work inspired by or based on Black history, experiences, culture or communities.
> Continue to learn and grow.

Please keep in mind that Black in Britain is run by just one person and I can only do so much, even though the goal is to connect audiences to Black history and talent. I typically post every few weeks, but this may change for a variety of reasons. Your patience and support is greatly valued because it enables me to run BIB and make it more long-term sustainable.
